Crucible separates desktop workspace data from website analytics. Local and Git workspaces do not require a Crucible account. Cloud workspaces remain Planned and are not available in this release.
Desktop workspaces
- Local workspaces stay on your Mac under Crucible’s application data directory.
- Git workspaces live in the repository directory you choose. Crucible uses your system Git and its credential helpers or SSH agent — it does not store remote passwords for you.
- Secret values use a local vault model; Git files keep secret references only.
- Save never commits. Commit never pushes. There is no automatic sync to a remote.
What the desktop app does not do
- No Crucible Cloud sign-in (Cloud is Planned)
- No desktop product telemetry dashboard for your request traffic
- No licensing phone-home
- No automatic push, force push, merge, rebase, or stash
Diagnostics
Optional Copy Diagnostics produces a sanitized report for support. It excludes secret values, bodies, Authorization headers, cookies, and private environment values.
Website analytics (CauseWise)
The public marketing and documentation site at dfcrucible.dev loads a first-party product
analytics script from CauseWise (
https://causewise.io
). The script is included once in the shared site layout on production builds. It is not
embedded in the Crucible desktop application, and it is not loaded during local website
development previews.
CauseWise may collect standard website usage information such as pages viewed and related browser request metadata needed to operate the analytics service. This disclosure describes that the tracker is present; it does not claim cookie-free, anonymous, or privacy-preserving behavior beyond what CauseWise itself provides for this site configuration.
Hosting infrastructure (for example Vercel) may also generate ordinary web server or CDN access logs unrelated to CauseWise.
